When Rape Goes Viral

Reading this article really makes you think of how many people are affected negatively by social media everyday. I would really like to see a number because I'm sure, sadly, it is a lot of people. Of course some of it is just minor embarrassment but even these cases should be taken seriously if the victim never consented to whatever it was that was posted. In this era of time there is only one way to escape social media completely. That is to go off the grid completely. Even if you don't have any of these accounts you will still see tweets and things on TV, ads and just about anywhere. Relating back to the article, I think that the punishment for people who publish pictures or anything to do with sexual assault victims, should be raised severely. Offenders of this need to be handled firmly and precedents have to be set. Firm justice is the only way we have a chance to deter people from doing this more.
